Are you ready for WIHS Barn Night 2023? The Washington International Horse Show is delighted to present one of the most fun, horse-filled, exciting, and surprising Barn Nights in the history of Barn Nights! From special events for early birds, to breathtaking show jumping, to costumes, contests and prizes, all this and more will happen on Thursday, October 26, at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

This year, MARS Barn Night goes Western and invites barns and other horse-loving clubs and groups to get creative, have some fun, and enter the Barn Night group contests for a chance to win great prizes! The deadline for contest entry is October 19.

WIHS Barn Night presented by MARS — Thursday, October 26

Barn Night will present two exciting international jumping classes, the $78,000 Welcome Stake and a Barn Night favorite–the $40,000 Accumulator Costume Class, where both horses and riders get into the Halloween spirit with exotic and surprising costumes!

What’s Barn Night without group spirit? Show your group’s spirit by wearing creative Western wear to Barn Night, and you may win the WIHS Group Costume Contest. A panel of judges will travel the stands and concourse on Barn Night to pick the winners, with prizes for first and second place. Groups must be registered to be eligible to win.

Everyone gets into the act on Barn Night — The WIHS Junior Committee, Major, the WIHS mascot, and California rider, trainer and WIHS board member Archie Cox, show their Barn Night spirit!

Early Birds! If you arrive before the show, head out to the covered arena (behind The Show Place Arena) and meet Guy McLean, internationally renowned master horseman, entertainer and bush poet, who’ll demonstrate the special connection he has with his horses. Be sure to stop by the food trucks to pick up a delicious dinner you can eat at your seat.
