Sophie and Katherine, the sisters who own Georgetown Cupcake, are great friends of the Washington International Horse Show, providing boxes of their delicious cupcakes to show champions for the past three years. This year they took their cupcakes to new heights by creating a special jump made from their world famous sweets as a surprise addition to our Barn Night festivities.

TLC’s DC CUPCAKES crew was on hand to capture the action for a special episode of the popular television show, which will air on Monday, January 16 at 10 p.m. ET.

The fantastic pink jump was made of 2,000 individual cupcakes topped by two enormous chocolate cupcakes with white frosting. The special jump served as the final fence on course, the high-point “Joker,” in the $20,000 Gambler’s Choice show jumping class, the featured event of the evening. Top riders, including Margie Engle, Todd Minikus, Laura Kraut, Aaron Vale, Mark Leone, Brianne Goutal and England’s Nick Skelton, clad in hilarious Halloween costumes, took on the challenge.

In the same episode of DC CUPCAKES, the sisters attempt to break the world record for largest cupcake. They set out to bake a one ton cupcake, first finding an oven huge enough for all 2000 pounds of homemade batter, and then baking it to perfection.

Horses jumping over cupcakes? How delicious! Tune this coming Monday night to see if any of the horses, riders or fans got to eat one!
