Washington International Horse Show to Provide Free Live Streaming of All Performances

Washington, DC, October 21, 2011 – The Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), the country’s leading metropolitan indoor horse show, will provide free live streaming of its 53rd annual championship event, which will be held Oct. 25-30 at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

The entire show, more than 70 hours of the best equestrian sport in the country, will be available free online, including the $100,000 President’s Cup Grand Prix, the show jumping highlight of the week, and the WIHS Equitation Classic Finals, for the nation’s top junior riders.

“The Washington International is a pinnacle of the equestrian year and we’re thrilled to offer a free live stream of our entire event for the very first time,” said Bridget Love Meehan, WIHS Executive Director. “In addition to joining us at the horse show, it will give our fans and horse enthusiasts throughout the country and across the world another way to watch their favorite horses and riders in real time.”  

Coverage includes show jumping, high performance hunters, junior and amateur-owner hunters and jumpers, pony hunters and regional champions. Entertainment and exciting exhibitions interspersed between competitive events also will be streamed, including performances from Riot Act Comedy Theater, audience favorite terrier racing, rodeo-style mutton busting, Chester Weber four-in-hand driving, an exhibition by Guy McLean and a moving demonstration by the Caisson Platoon.

WIHS coverage will be streamed live on the WIHS website, www.wihs.org throughout the show week. Broadcasts begin Tuesday morning, Oct. 25 at 7:30 a.m. All performances will be archived for future viewing. Reminders of upcoming streaming highlights will be posted on the WIHS Facebook and Twitter pages. The streaming broadcasts will be produced by Equestrian Sport TV and are made possible through the support of Platinum Performance and eyeD.
