WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW ANNOUNCES NEW EVENTS FOR 2007

(Washington, DC) — July 31, 2007 — The Washington International Horse Show, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, announced today new events and entertainment slated for the October 9-14, 2007 show. The 49th annual WIHS will include a ceremony honoring President Gerald R. Ford, new outreach to charities, award-winning entertainment, and the premiere of the Acela Club Cafe.

To honor former president and horse enthusiast Gerald R. Ford, the WIHS will rename the President’s Cup Grand Prix the Gerald R. Ford President’s Cup Grand Prix. Members of the Ford family will be present to honor the winners of the Grand Prix on the evening of Saturday, October 13.

In partnership with Autism Speaks, the WIHS will host an ‘Urban Cowboy’ Party fundraising dinner on Wednesday, October 10th from 7:00 to 10:00pm in the Acela Club overlooking the equestrian competition at the Verizon Center. Guests will enjoy a gourmet southwestern menu, open bar and silent auction. The event will include Texas Hold’em tables and a mechanical bull ride. The WIHS, to raise funds and awareness for Washington, DC based charitable organizations, has created a new class, the Charity Cup Classic. Six non-profit organizations, represented by teams of three riders, will compete on Friday, October 12 to win prize money for their organization. Monetary prizes will be awarded to participating charities proportional to the number of points accumulated by each team during the class.

Award-winning artist, Jewel, will be the marquis entertainer for the 2007 WIHS. Performing some of her chart topping hits, Jewel will take the stage at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, October 12. Tickets for this and all other WIHS shows will go on sale Tuesday, September 4 and may be purchased by calling (202) 397-SEAT or visiting www.ticketmaster.com.

Premiering in 2007, tables will be available for purchase in the Acela Club overlooking the show arena. The three-night package, offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday, includes tables of four, exclusive arena seating, an intimate dining atmosphere, a first class menu, wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages.

The WIHS brings the ‘county to the city’ every October, providing the Washington, DC metro area and beyond the chance to discover the equestrian world. Providing international equestrian entertainment, shopping and affordable family fun, the WIHS is the world’s elite indoor show jumping event.
