The Washington International Horse Show Announces Jewel as the Friday Night Marquis Entertainment

WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW PROUDLY PRESENTS HIT SOLO ARTIST, JEWEL, FOR ITS MARQUIS ENTERTAINMENT PERFORMANCE

WASHINGTON, DC (August 22, 2007) ‘ The 2007 Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization benefiting local and national charities, proudly presents Jewel as the entertainer for Friday night’s Marquis Performance on October 12 at the Verizon Center, in downtown Washington, DC. Jewel will perform as the highlight of Friday night’s premier events. Terrier races, dressage, show jumping and the heart-stopping Puissance (horse high jump) will round out the evening.

The three-time Grammy nominee is a unique and authentic artist, exploring fresh musical avenues for more than a decade. She has opened for such acts as Bob Dylan and Neil Young. To date, Jewel has sold over 27 million albums worldwide, received an American Music Award and a MTV Video Music Award.

‘We are thrilled to have Jewel take the stage on Friday evening as our marquis entertainer this year! With her popular hits, we are confident that her performance will amplify the excitement and energy of the 2007 WIHS,’ said Susie Webb, Executive Director of the WIHS.

Jewel shares WIHS’s belief in giving back to the community. She has donated time and effort to charities that help impoverished communities worldwide, as well as spending time in Washington on Capitol Hill rallying for various women’s issues.

Along with the Marquis Entertainment event, WIHS presents new additions to its 2007 program including the Charity Cup Classic benefiting six local non-profits (taking place before Jewel’s performance on Friday evening), an Urban Cowboy Party to benefit Autism Speaks (Wednesday, October 10th), the renaming of the President’s Cup Grand Prix to the Gerald R. Ford President’s Cup Grand Prix (Saturday, October 13th), and the Acela Club Caf’, where tables of four experience exclusive arena seating, an intimate dining atmosphere and a first class menu. (Thursday, October 11th through Saturday, October 13th). Saturday afternoon will feature the WIHS High Performance Hunter Classic.
