The Washington International Horse Show Announces 2007 Junior Hunter Division Champions

(Washington, DC) ‘ October 12, 2007 ‘ The
Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), a 501(c)(3)
charitable organization benefiting local and national
charities, announced today the four Junior Hunter Division
Champions. The following divisions competed over a two-day
span for the titles of Champion and Reserve Champion:
Small Junior Hunter (15 and Under), Large Junior Hunter
(15 and Under), Small Junior Hunter (16-17), and Large Junior Hunter (16-17).

After two days of stiff competition, Sublime ridden by
Jessica Springsteen, garnered the Small Junior Hunter (15
and Under) division championship with Zoom and Jennifer
Waxman earning the Reserve Championship title. In the
Large Junior Hunter (15 and Under) division, sponsored by Far Niente Stables, LLC, it was Whitney Roper’s Saloon, ridden by Jennifer Waxman, walking out of the winner’s circle as Champion of the division. Tiziano and Jennifer Springsteen earning the Reserve Championship. Saloon and Jennifer Waxman also earned the overall Best Junior Stake Round of all Junior Hunter divisions.

In the Small Junior Hunter (16-17) division, MVP and
Amelia McArdle earned the title of Champion as well as the
overall Grand Champion Junior Hunter. The Reserve
Championship was Castle and Addison Phillips. The Large
Junior Hunter (16-17) division, sponsored by Brooke Carmichael McMurray-Fowler and Pam Carmichael Keenan, championship was won by Mimosa and Addison Phillips with Cortie Wetherill’s Take Away garnering the Reserve Championship.

The Juniors also saw Catie Boone jump to the win with
Naleida in the afternoon’s Junior Jumper Class, sponsored by The King-Kaplan Family, with a double clear round. Naleida’s fast jump off time of 28.523 clinched the win over Tina Dilandri and Chanel 292’s jump off time of 29.599.

While eleven hunter division titles have already been
awarded, the Pony Hunters will take place Saturday,
October 13 and Sunday, October 14. The Washington
International Equitation Finals, sponsored by Tad Coffin Performance Saddles, will also take place on Saturday, October 13.
