Washington, D.C., October 15, 2009 –The Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), a leading national equestrian event based in Washington, D.C., since 1958, and Capitol File magazine are pleased to invite you to Hunt, Jump & Pony Up!, an evening of casino fun culminating with the $100,000 President’s Cup Grand Prix on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.
The party will take place in Verizon Center’s Acela Cup, a lovely dining facility with a view of the action in the arena, with cocktails at 6:30 PM, dinner at 7:30 PM and Texas Hold’em, Blackjack, Roulette and more from 8:00 PM. The $100,000 President’s Cup Grand Prix will begin at 9:45 PM.

Also taking place during this final evening of the Washington International Horse Show will be the WIHS Equitation Classic final phase, an exhibition by the Caisson Platoon Thereaeutic Riding Program; terrier races; a dressage exhibition by Ashley Holzer, a member of the Canadian Olympic Dressage Team; WIHS Hall of Fame Induction and the $100,000 President’s Cup Grand Prix.
The final day of the show, Sunday, Oct. 25, will feature Hunter Ponies, WIHS Local Finals and Washington’s World of he Horse, a new 90-minute, family-friendly event celebrating horses in all their beauty and variety. World of the Horse will include more than 12 different equestrian acts showcasing dressage, barrel racing, Saddlebreds, Friesians, sidesaddle, jumping, polo, the U.S. Park Police Mounted Patrol, plus the show’s famed terrier racing.
Sunday’s competiton starts at 7:00 AM with the World of the Horse beginning aout 1:00 PM. Tickets are $15 and children 12 and under are free. Discounts of $5 off are available for military, seniors, students, Metro card holders, and Comcast employees.
