Dr. Sheila C. Johnson Hosts Annual Red, White & Blue Dinner During $100,000 President’s Cup Grand Prix Sponsored by Salamander Hospitality

 

Washington, D.C. – October 28, 2006 –The Annual Red, White & Blue Dinner held during the evening gala performance of the Washington International Horse Show was a huge success.

A who’s who of the equestrian world gathered to watch the $100,000 President’s Cup Grand Prix (one of the biggest horse events of the 2006 winter season) sponsored by Salamander Hospitality. The gala was hosted by Dr. Sheila C. Johnson at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC.

Many grand prix riders, sponsors, Board Members, and licensed officials attended the evening festivities. The tables were set in a ring-side balcony with a perfect view of the Grand Prix Arena, and guests had dinner while watching the $100,000 Presidents Cup. A beautiful array of food, as well as a glass martini bar with a shimmering American Flag made of ice above it, was admired by many guests.


Grand Prix riders, Beezie Madden, Megan Lamaze, Schuyler Riley, Margie Engle, Laura Kraut, Nick Skelton, Michael Whittaker, Lauren Hough, Candice King, Georgina Bloomberg, and the President’s Cup winner, Harrie Smolders, were among the dozens of athletes in attendance.

Many sponsors of the WIHS came to enjoy dinner and view the Grand Prix from the private box. Some of these included: Georgina Bloomberg, Warren Christopher from Monarch International’s Show Circuit Magazine, Alexandra Cherubini from Equifit, Inc., and Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Harrison of CN. 

 

Ronnie Beard and Kip Rosenthal, who judged the WIHS Equitation Finals, were there as well as the Hunter Judges, James Clapperton, Matt Collins, Philip J. DeVita, and the Jumper Judges, Francois Ferland, John Ammerman, and David Distler.



Board Members Mr. Robert Banner, Mr. Carnicero, Ms. Kathy Chovnick, Mrs. C. Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Murray Kessler, Ms. Tracey Weinberg, and Mr. Eugene R. Mische were also in attendance. Other guests included: Mason Phelps, Kim Tudor, Steve Engle, Kasey Ament, Bobby Braswell, Archie Cox, Frank and Stacia Madden, Cayce Harrison, Karen Healey, Alex Jayne, Christina Schlusemeyer, Louise Serio, Don Stewart, and Ken and Emily Smith.
