WIHS LOCAL WEEKEND ENTRY DEADLINE AUGUST 27TH
WASHINGTON, DC (August 21, 2007) ‘ The entry deadline for the Washington International Horse Show Local Weekend is fast approaching! All entries must be postmarked by Monday, August 27th. Local Weekend will take place Friday, September 7 ‘ Sunday, September 9 at the Morven Park Equestrian Center in Leesburg, Virginia. The Local Weekend entry form and prize list can be found at www.wihs.org.
Local Weekend provides horse and rider combinations with the opportunity to qualify to compete in the Local Hunter Finals at the Washington International Horse Show. Included in the schedule are the traditional Adult and Children’s Jumper Divisions, Short Stirrup, Leadline, Novice and Intermediate Equitation and special hunter divisions. New classes added to this year’s schedule include the MHSA Adult and Gittings Equitation, VHSA Adult and Children’s Medal, Baby-Green and Pre-Green Hunters as well as classes for Level 3 and Level 4 jumpers.
This year, Local Weekend will again host the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Zone 3 Finals. The Zone 3 Finals include divisions such as Adult Amateur Hunter 18-35, Adult Amateur Hunter 36 & Over, Children’s Hunter 14 & Under, Children’s Hunter 15-17 and Children’s Small/Medium and Large Pony. The top 20 horse and rider combinations in each division have received a letter of invitation to compete in the Zone 3 Finals.
All horses and ponies are welcome to compete in Local Weekend regardless of their location. Those extended the opportunity to compete in the Local Finals at the 2007 Washington International Horse Show must stable their horse or pony within a 100-mile radius of Washington, DC.
Local Weekend 2007 will boast vendors selling a variety of items such as equestrian themed gifts, handbags, high end saddle pads, trailers, clothing items and preppy gifts.
The Washington International Horse Show will take place October 9-14, 2007 at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC.
